Hi! I'm Gail Masinda, your teacher, guide, and cheerleader.

I've been teaching for decades, but it's been my living history portrayals and work as a docent in national historic sites where I've really learned what grabs and holds the attention of history students of all ages. I began teaching online long before it was commonplace, and am delighted to be the online history teacher for my homeschooled grandkids who live in a different state.

I’ve been blessed. Seriously. Not everybody gets to love what they do as much as I do. I’ve taught private music lessons (piano, organ, voice, and theory/composition) since 1972. I’m a Certified Church Musician (retired) with the Presbyterian Church (USA).

One of the most fun jobs I ever had was the fifteen years (1985-2000) I spent as a staff writer for Sheet Music Magazine. I wrote arrangements (mostly organ, some piano) of pops, standards, and show tunes, had a popular reader write-in column, a regular feature column called “Playing Tips” and made personal appearances. My articles and interviews have appeared in over a dozen other periodicals and journals as well, including Keyboard Companion, Hurdy Gurdy, The Organ Teacher (I was the editor for that one for a time), and several religious publications. There are few music instruction books and a songbook floating around with my name on them, too.

My first book that combined music and history, "The Strenuous Life of Scott Joplin," was published in 2020 and is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and from many independent booksellers.
